Seven Surprising Fat Burning Foods

Believe it or not, fats are a necessary part of a healthy diet. And the seven so called “fatty” foods below actually help you burn body fat too. Eggs and beef are already part of the Military Diet, but the rest of these fat burners are great for your days off the Military Diet.

Dark Chocolate (70% cacao content or more)

A little dark chocolate can satisfy a sugar craving in exchange for very few calories. Dark chocolate is also rich in antioxidants that help lower blood pressure along with other benefits to the body. Some brands even contain good amounts of fiber which aids in digestion and helps you feel full longer. The higher the cacao content, the less sugar it will contain.

Coconut milk, Coconut Flour and Coconut Oil

The healthy kind of saturated fat in coconut milk and oil provides powerful nutrients for your immune system. Compared to other kinds of fats, these are used immediately and NOT stored in the body. Coconut flour is gluten free and has a very high fiber content (and very little starch) which helps you feel fuller longer.

Natural Butter

Butter is not the enemy! Natural butter is a thousand times better for you than chemical laden spreads or margarine. Real butter contains healthy fats that boost your immune system and the fats are burned for energy rather than stored. Butter  helps keep your blood sugar regulated, fights inflammation, and helps balance hormones. All of which help you burn body fat.

Whole Eggs

We’ve been taught that egg yolks are unhealthy and we often see egg white omelettes offered in the “light” sections of menus. However, egg yolks are actually good for you. Yolks contain vitamins, antioxidants, minerals, and fatty acids. A whole egg is a great source of protein and healthy fats. Of course, you should always choose free range organic eggs.

Organic Beef

Organic is the key word here. Typical farmed beef has been fed unhealthy grains and pumped with antibiotics and hormones, therefore the quality of the meat is  low. Organic beef means the animal was raised naturally, eating their normal diet. This increases the vitamins, nutrients, and good fats of the meat. It is also one of the best proteins, which aids building lean muscle and burning fat.

Avocados

Avocados (technically a fruit) are full of healthy fats. They are also chock full of vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals.  Again, the healthy fats and fiber help maintain the body’s hormone levels, blood sugar, and digestion. This aids fat burning and lean muscle building.

Nuts

Nuts have 75% to 95% of their total calories coming from fat. BUT, they are healthy fats! Like avocados, nuts are also rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. The protein and fiber in nuts helps control your blood sugar, and digestion, and helps make you feel fuller longer. Raw nuts are the best choice because the nutritional content isn’t affected by roasting.
